Duo Zéphyra brings together mezzo-soprano Taryn Knerr and flautist Emma Pohlers in a musical partnership shaped by a shared love of storytelling, imaginative programming, and the expressive interplay of voice and flute.

Founded in 2024, the duo emerged while preparing a programme for the final round of the International Ferdinand Ness Competition in Wiesbaden. Inspired by the art and aesthetics of the Belle Époque and Jugendstil, they discovered works for voice, flute, and piano that sparked an immediate musical connection. What began as a competition project soon grew into an ongoing collaboration, driven by their shared artistic values and curiosity for new repertoire.

At the heart of Duo Zéphyra is the desire to create concerts that tell a story. Through the thoughtful interplay of music, poetry, and atmosphere, their programmes invite audiences on journeys to distant places, unfamiliar sound worlds, and new emotional landscapes. Rather than presenting individual works in isolation, the duo weaves them into cohesive musical experiences that offer an escape from the everyday and open the door to new perspectives.

With two distinctive programmes already developed, one of which has been presented to audiences in Leipzig, Duo Zéphyra continues to explore new repertoire for its unusual combination of instruments and to create imaginative concert concepts. United by a shared artistic vision, the duo seeks to offer audiences engaging and meaningful musical experiences that resonate beyond the concert hall.
